Position Overview
An established and growing food processing manufacturer is seeking a Director of Human Resources to build and lead its HR function. With two facilities, this role is perfect for a hands-on HR leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments. You’ll be the architect of HR systems, policies, and practices, bringing structure, compliance, and strategic value to the business.

Key Priorities :
- Build the HR Function: Develop scalable systems, policies, and practices that align with company goals and ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
- Compliance Ownership: Ensure legal, regulatory, and food safety HR compliance (FMLA, OSHA, EEO, wage/hour, etc.)
- Cost Management: Oversee compensation, benefits, and headcount planning with a sharp eye on labor costs
- Independent Leadership: Function as a team of one, serving as both strategist and executor
- People Partnership: Be a trusted advisor to leadership and a fair, approachable resource to employees
- Culture & Engagement: Shape a positive, productive, and safe workplace culture across both facilities
Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or director role
- Experience in food processing, manufacturing, or other industrial settings
- Proven track record of independently managing the full HR lifecycle
- Expert knowledge of compliance and employment law
- Experience with recruiting shift and hourly workers
- Strong communicator and coach with a calm, pragmatic presence
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, resource-lean environment where HR is hands-on and essential
- Bachelor’s degree required; HR certifications or advanced degree preferred
