Location: Los Angeles

Company: Leading General Contractor (Revenue: $300M)

Project: $100M Public Works Project

Salary: $100,000 – $115,000 + Benefits

About the Company:

My client is a nationally recognized general contractor with $300M in annual revenue, specializing in large-scale public works, commercial, and institutional projects. Known for their commitment to quality and client satisfaction, they are seeking a driven Assistant Project Manager to join the team for a landmark $100M public works project.

Role Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the Project Manager and field teams in executing the day-to-day activities of a major public works project. This individual will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, managing project documentation, and ensuring schedules and budgets are maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager with overall project management duties from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and maintain strong communication across project teams.
  • Monitor project schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists.
  • Track project costs and budgets to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Support contract administration, including compliance with public works requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation and reporting for internal and client use.
  • Conduct site visits and support field supervision as needed.
  • Help manage safety programs in coordination with the site team.
  • Interface with owners, architects, engineers, and public agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of construction experience, ideally with public works, infrastructure, or large commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar).
  • Knowledge of public sector project regulations and requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
